A MONTH OF FESTIVALS

A pril is a month of festivals.the sinhalese and the hindus celebrate the new year the new year is generally on the 13th or 14th of april.the new year is a national festival. the sinhalese and the hindus celebrate it in different ways.the cath olics and the christians celebrate easter.easter is on a sunday. the friday before easter is good friday.easter and good friday are important religious days.sometimes the muslims too celebrate a day in mid-april.muslim fetivals do not always come on the same day.the muslims follow the lunar calendar.the new year festival have very special customs.on this day sinhalese and the hindus light the herrthat an auspicious time.they also take their new year meal at an auspicious time. this is avery special day to sinhalese and hindus.

MY SCHOOL

my school is nikaewa dewanam piyathissa central college. it is situated at north westen province. it is very beautiful school.52 teachers in my school and 1000 students learn in my school. my school have a, library science laborotary, computer laborotary and large playground.sri nagala raja maha viharaya is the infront of my school and nikawewa lake is behind in my school.nikawewa government hospital is near by the our school.mr.s.b.dissanayaka is the our principal.our school students are won the many difference compitition.our school stdents won the sports game,dancing, music and drama compitition. my school students are very honest and very clever students.

                                 I  LOVE  MY  SCHOOL  VERY MUCH. 

sigiriya

sigiriya  is famous for the beautiful  frescoes or paintings. many visitors from all over the world jvisit sigiriya.aboutkkl isoo years ago king kashyapa killed his father king dhatuseha and became the king.toprotect  his kingdom from his elder brother moggalang,kashyapa moved his kingdom from anuradapura to sigiriya.he built his palace onarock. the entrance to the rock was in the shape ofa lion’s head.it’s paws can be seen even today. this many be one of  the reasons  why.it’s is called sigiriya or lion rock.to get to the top of the rock there are stone steps carved in to it. as you go up,you cansee the beautiful shining mirror wall. inside the rock cave you cansee the  famous sigiriya freseoes.

MY VILLAGE

my villgae is moragollagama.it is a small village in the kurunegala district.this is an agricultural area.most of the villagers are farmers.

they grow paddy,fruits and vegetables.there is a vast stretch of paddy fields in my village.farmers obtain water from the village tank for

their cultivation purposes.thereis adispensary,a co-operative shop,a rural bank,a sub post officeand ahistorical temple in my village.there

are several government servants too here.there is rural development society and a death donation society in my village.the villagers

are very friendly.villagers live happily and peacefully.

VALUE OF TREES

TREES ARE VERY USEFUL.B OTH MAN AND THE ANIMALS CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT THEM.TREES PROVIDE US FOOD,MEDICINE,TIMBEER AND SHELTER.TREES SAVE US FROM THE SCORCHING RAYS OF THE SUN.WE GET THE MOST NEEDED RAIN BECAUSE OF THE TREES.TREES MAKE THE ENVIRONMENT BEAUTIFUL.THE EARTH HAS BECOME A COOL,BRIGHT AND A BEAUTIFUL PLACE BECAUSE OF THE TREES. TREES STOP THE SOIL EROSION. MOSTOF OUR PEOPLE HAVE NOT REALISED THE VALUE OF TREES. THEY CUT DOWN TREES FOR THEIR NEEDS IN A CARELESSMANNER. IF A TREE IS CUT DOWN WE MUST GROW ANOTHER TREE IN ITS PLACE.IF WE DESTROY TREES,THE EARTH WOULD BECOME A DESERT.

LET US PROTECT THE TREES.

vesak festival

                       vesak is the most important religious festival to buddhists.it is held month of may every year.it marks three important events in thelife of lord buddha. they are the birth,the enlightenment and the passing away of lord buddha. we observe ‘’sil” on this day we aiso

listen to sermons and other religioustalks. we decorate our houses with vesak lanterns and other decorations. we also illuminate our houses with coloured bulbs. pandals are erected at public places.we go on pilrimages to sacred places.all these acts purify our thoughts.special religious programmes are implemented by buddhist associations. vesak lantern competitions too are held.let us live happily in peace and harmony on this important day.

MY COUNTRY.

      My country is sri lanka. it is an island in the indian ocean. it is also calledthe pearl of the indian ocean.This is an agricultural country. most of the people are farmers. our staple food is rice.there are several communitiesin my country.They are the sinhalese,the tamils ,the muslims and burghers.The population of sri lanka is about 19 millions.ourmain imports are food,cloths and machinery.our main exports tea,rubber and coconuts. our countrybecame a republic in 1972.wegained independence in 1948. now we area free nation.sri jayawardenepura kotte is the capital of sri lanka.our commercial capital is colombo. piduruthalagala is the highest mountain and mahaveli is the longest river.We have a tropical climate.sri lanka isfamous throughout the world as a tourist paradise. there are many touristattractions here.some of them are water falls,ancient ruins,sanctuaries,sandybeaches and botanical gardens.mr.mahinda rajapaksha is the president of my country.the prime minister is mr.rathnasiri  wickremanayaka.I LOVE MY COUNTRY VERY MUCH.
